WRCC Keeping Welland Flatwater Centre Busy in 2014

The 2014 season will see more than thirty (30) events hosted on Welland’s Waterway; the flatwater sports season will consist of a wide range of sports and sporting events taking place on the North and South Courses of the Flatwater Centre, along the Waterway, as well as taking place at the PenFinancial Credit Union Flatwater Community Centre.

From community-based initiatives, to training sessions, to hard fought competitions and championships, the activities around the Welland International Flatwater Centre will continue to be a catalyst for economic benefit to local businesses and broader community engagement. More than 11,175 athletes are expected to visit Welland and race on Welland’s Waterway in 2014. On-the-water training for local clubs has been underway since the ice cleared and our first national level training camp started this week.

To join the WIFC volunteer team or assist with an event, interested individuals are encouraged to sign up via the online portal at www.canalcorp.ca .

Lieutenant Governor of Ontario to Present Gold Medals at the 2015 World Dragon Boat Racing Championships

The Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, will be in attendance in the afternoon of Saturday, August 22 , at the Welland International Flatwater Centre North Course for the 2015 World Dragon Boat Racing Championships. Her Honour will present gold medals to members of the winning team.
