Ontario Masters Provincial Open Water Swim

Posted Aug 8th, 2014

The Welland International Flatwater Centre North Course is proud to feature the Elma Couture Open Water Provincial Swim Championship on August 10th.

Masters Swimming began in Canada in 1971 with fitness and competitive swimming programs for adults. Masters Swimming Canada (MSC) is the national governing body, working with partners, provincial organizations and more than 250 Masters clubs. Together, they deliver quality, organized activities to 10,000 registered members between the ages of 18 and 103, making masters swimmers one of Canada's largest adult fitness populations. MSC supports and encourages adult swimmers of all abilities while promoting its organizational values of Fun and Friendship, Health and Wellness, and Participation and Achievement.

ELMA COUTURE OPEN WATER SWIM 3K, 5K + 10K has been sanctioned by the MSO as the Ontario Masters Provincial Open Water Swim and is hosted by Welland Masters Swim Team and Brock Aquatics at the Welland International Flatwater Centre North Course. This is an annual event that attracts approximately 50 athletes. The Bridie McCann Memorial Race 1K Open Water Swim will also take place, with athletes competing as young as 11 years of age.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

  • The 2013 Junior and U23 champs was the most wonderful experience for us in South Africa. Although our kayak community is relatively small, we are an intense group of loyal supporters. Following the build-up on your website as well as your Facebook and the photos on WIFC Facebook page was the highlight of my day. Not only mine but many of us shared links from early morning. Thanks for the effort and a huge congratulations on your achievement. The live streaming gave many of us goose bumps and the occasional lump in the throat. I checked many comments by parents all over the globe, don`t worry, we are all the same, from Japan, Canada, Africa. Thanks for sharing the wonderful experience. Today I could watch my son`s semi-final on Youtube, tonight we will watch it again and every day I will check Youtube for new uploads.
