Open Water Swim

Open Water Swimming is the latest Olympic Sport. Most swims are between 1 km and 3 km. In a standard triathlon, the swim leg in 3.8 km (2.4 miles). Marathon swimming is 10 km or more. The pace of these races is very fast right from the start. Swimmers jostle for position then head for the buoys. Competitive swimmers use techniques and strategies to keep ahead of the pack. Many open water swimmers train for triathlons and Ironman competitions.

Lieutenant Governor of Ontario to Present Gold Medals at the 2015 World Dragon Boat Racing Championships

The Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, will be in attendance in the afternoon of Saturday, August 22 , at the Welland International Flatwater Centre North Course for the 2015 World Dragon Boat Racing Championships. Her Honour will present gold medals to members of the winning team.
