Dragon Boat Niagara 2015 is delighted to launch its Volunteer Program on Wednesday, February 25th, 5:30 – 7:30 pm, at the Welland Recreational Canal Corporation Community Office located at the Seaway Mall across from Sportchek. The community is invited to join the excitement and learn more about welcoming the world with us this summer.

Attracting up to 4,000 participants from 20+ countries, Dragon Boat Niagara 2015 is a unique combination of two (2) international dragon boat racing championships together in Welland, Ontario from August 12-23, 2015: Pan American Club Crew Dragon Boat Championships (August 14 – 16) and the International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) 12th World Dragon Boat Racing Championships (August 18-23). Dragon Boat Niagara 2015 is looking for 350 enthusiastic and passionate individuals to help host one of the largest international single sporting events in the world in 2015. “Volunteers are the backbone to a successful event," expresses Vic Kerschl, Treasurer of the Welland Recreational Canal Corporation Board of Directors and Dragon Boat Niagara 2015 Steering Committee member. “Individuals will have the opportunity to take part in so many different ways, leading up to the event, during the competitions as well as after the Championships."

Hosted in conjunction with the Welland Recreational Canal Corporation's Volunteer Appreciation Reception, everyone is encouraged to join us at the Welland Recreational Canal Corporation Community Office at the Seaway Mall on Wednesday, February 25th. Celebrating the accomplishments of 2014, looking to the future 2015 season on the Welland Recreational Waterway, and welcoming the community to come together to once again, welcome the world to Welland….come be a part of the wonder…..

German senior men’s canoe polo team dedicates gold medal to fallen teammate

Sep 6th, 2018

Germany nearly won it all on the water after losing so much off of it. Only a 3-2 loss to Great Britain in the men's under-21 final prevented Germany from sweeping all four divisions at the 2018 International Canoe Federation Canoe Polo World Championships in Welland.

  • The 2013 Junior and U23 champs was the most wonderful experience for us in South Africa. Although our kayak community is relatively small, we are an intense group of loyal supporters. Following the build-up on your website as well as your Facebook and the photos on WIFC Facebook page was the highlight of my day. Not only mine but many of us shared links from early morning. Thanks for the effort and a huge congratulations on your achievement. The live streaming gave many of us goose bumps and the occasional lump in the throat. I checked many comments by parents all over the globe, don`t worry, we are all the same, from Japan, Canada, Africa. Thanks for sharing the wonderful experience. Today I could watch my son`s semi-final on Youtube, tonight we will watch it again and every day I will check Youtube for new uploads.
